Eudeba's bet on e-book

EUDEBA, university press of Buenos Aires, "digitizes" to increase distribution and reduce their prices.

Paginar.net WEB, specialized unit on Internet projects of Paginar.net, is responsible for the implementation of the new e-commerce platform of the editorial.

The most important new feature of the website is the publishing and selling of e-books that will reduce publication costs and increase the scope of the distribution of books from the publisher. The new website also includes major improvements in usability and image and is based on the latest e-commerce technologies to ensure the security of transactions.

EUDEBA plans to release all new titles in e-book format. "The goal is to digitize as many books as possible," said Gonzalo Alvarez, chairman of the editorial, who also confirms that "in all cases the discounts will be around 50 and 70%" for e-book version".

Another important issue is the EUDEBA strategic decision to incorporate the use of Creative Commons licenses for some of his publications, besides the use of DRM (Digital Rights Management), which is the standard among most of e-books publishers.

Paginar.net team used open source software to build for the new EUDEBA's e-commerce website. "This approach based on open and standard technologies is a guarantee for the editorial, because it ensures continuity of the project since they are independent in terms of technology," said Flavia Breccia, Manager of Paginar.net WEB. The result is a custom solution designed and created for the publishing house, based on the content management system Drupal and Ubercart, it's e-commerce component.

With this leap into the digital world EUDEBA stands at the avant-garde of the industry and is projected to the international market, now his books can be purchased anywhere in the world.
